Written on October 18, 2026. Covers my hike at Mt. Pugh.
This may have been a bad choice for a second hike. I went with the same group of friends as rattlesnake last week, but we came severely under prepared for this hike.
We did not make it all the way to the top, there was just too much elevation gain and we did not have the gear/supplies to make it with confidence as a group. But we did make it to Stujak Pass, which is still an incredibly beautiful site, with views over the Bedal Valley and of surrounding peaks. Mt Rainier was also visible off in the fog.

We drove out here in a car without enough clearance, so we had to park about 1.5 mi from the trailhead, and walk up. This made our total round trip about 14 miles, which is a step up from the ~6 we did last week at Rattlesnake.
The sun had just about set by the time we reached the trailhead on the way down, and we walked back to the car in the dark. In future we will bring flashlights and headlamps, but we managed with our phones.
