Written on October 18, 2026. Covers my hike at Scorpion Mountain.
Its been a couple of months since my last hike, but me and my friends are back at it for the summer, starting out with a very nice hike up to Scorpion Mountain.
This hike follows the Johnson Ridge trail, which is a set of very steep ups and downs for the majority of the length. Some areas reach 60% grade, but it comes out to some very nice viewpoints.

There were multiple points along this ridge where the side opened up to a sweeping view of the Glacier Peak wilderness, or south into the Snoqualmie. Near the end the forest falls away, leaving you on the side of a meadow hill.

Following this trail for a bit further gets you to the peak of Scorpion Mountain, and if you keep going you will reach Joan lake. Near where the split to the lake is, there is this incredible field of short grasses, which made for some amazing pictures and views.

The only problem we had here was the mosquitoes, they were unrelenting and constant as soon as we left the forest. I need to get a mosquito net for future hikes like this.
