Written on October 17th, 2026. Covers my trip to Oregon.
Bend Oregon is not the most interesting of towns on its own, but it is near something I am more interested in, a level 0 light pollution zone. I wanted to come here to experience what the night sky looks like without the light or civilization.
The actual night was hard to capture, due to my lack of equatorial mount for my camera and difficulty setting up my crappy telescope in the freezing weather.
I didn't get any good pictures, but looking through the scope was incredible, there is so much in the sky that is obstructed when light is around. I did get this image of the Andromeda Galaxy with my camera direct though.

We tried to go to Crater Lake as well, but due to it being February the road leading to the rim was snowed in by about 12ft of snow. Definitely the most snow I've ever seen, it towered over the car and visitor center. There was one option to get to the rim, a 1mi snowshoe hike, but that was more than we had bargained for and we opted to not go.
It does kind of suck though, as Crater Lake is closing until 2029 for wildlife restoration, so it will be a while before I get another chance to go.
